I don't know anything about the director, Ben Hackworth, but I'm intrigued by the description of Corroboree:

"A dying theatre director hires a young man named Conor (Conor O'Hanlon) to visit him in a meditation retreat and perform scenes from the director's life. Following a tape of instructions, the young man must visit different rooms over the weekend and in these rooms, encounters five actresses who portray key women in the director's life. As the final scenes unfold, Conor must decide whether the performance has gone too far."

For what it's worth, I saw Teona Strugar Mitevska's debut feature, "How I Killed a Saint," and found it both stultifying and simpleminded. Maybe she's grown some, maybe not. But in a field as crowded as TIFF '07, I won't be lining up to find out.

Paprika Steen, on the other hand, rocks the house, yo. As an actress, anyway -- haven't seen her debut film as a helmer.

Matthew Clayfield just wrote about Corroboree on his blog.

I'm going to check out Blind because I'm a sucker for the old adage: "It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye." Besides, it has a giraffe in the snow. Here's the website with trailer.
