The Hong is very curious and obviously very much world seeing.

HUACHO's first segment (of four, if I recall) is pretty great but the rest is absolutely typical and uninteresting. Very nice color stock though.

The Romanian film was one of the best in Cannes, the Suleiman one of the worst.

Yikes, anything else you can say about the Suleiman? I was looking forward to that one based on the description

The Variety review of Huacho has piqued my curiosity. Are the allusions to Martel and Alonso justified?

Found a trailer for Eyes Wide Open.

Thanks, Dan. I added it to the list. I wonder how different my response to that trailer would have been without the opera cue playing throughout?

Here's a TV segment on the film that is actually more useful in evaluating it, because there are a few clips in there between the interviews.
